Toothbrushing Time!

We are busy learning about dental health this week!  On Monday we started an experiment to see what sugar can do to our teeth!  We placed hard boiled eggs in soda!  The result was some very brown eggs! Today we took our eggs out of the soda and tried to make them healthy again by doing some toothbrushing!  The kiddos had a blast and worked hard to get the eggs white again!

Book Look Time!

On Day 3 our class has been using I-pads to listen to books being read on the site Tumblebooks!  The students scan a QR code and it links them up to a book on the website!  The kiddos are doing a great job using the scanner app.  They also enjoy listening to stories in a different form!  Here are a few snapshots of friends using the I-pads to listen to a book.

I would like to expand our library of books that are linked up to QR codes.  There are several available to purchase on the site: www.teacherspayteachers.com  If you would like to help expand our library of QR books, please consider purchasing a gift certificate from this website for our classroom.  Any gift certificates would be used to purchase QR Book codes.  Thank you!

Jump Rope for Heart

On Thursday our school participated in Jump Rope for Heart!  This was a fun event for all students!  Here are a few snapshots from the day!

100th Day!

What a crazy week it was!  On Tuesday, Feb. 11 we celebrated our 100th day of school!  The capes the children created were fantastic! Thank you to the families for helping their child create a 100th day cape!  The children also did a great job wearing them all day and still were great learners! Here are a few snapshots from our day!
The students created 100th day hats!

The kiddos went on a 100th Day scavenger hunt around the room!

Melt The Ice

At the beginning of January we were busy learning about ice and snow!  We had a great time playing the Melt the Ice game! The kiddos had to drop ice cubes down their shirts, sprinkle them with salt, blow on them with warm arm, drop it in water and more to get their ice cube melted first!  It was a blast!

I realize this was awhile ago, but I wanted to share the pictures with you!

Jumping Like Rockhoppers!

We are working through our penguin unit this week and today's penguin was the Rockhopper!  The children enjoyed learning some fun facts about the rockhopper penguin and watching a short video of Rockhoppers jumping around!  Another activity we completed was to see if we could jump as far as a rockhopper!  They can jump up to 6 feet in a single bound!  Below are a few snapshots of our attempts to jump as far a rockhopper!
